Over the past several years Northmead Creative and Performing Arts High School has been implementing High Potential and Gifted Academic Program, (previously known as Gifted & Talented Program), the entry to which has become extremely competitive.

Selection into this academic program is based on an entrance examination.

This year, for Year 7, 2023 placement, we will be conducting a Higher Ability Selection Test (HAST).

Testing will occur on Tuesday March 22nd, 2022 from 9.00am to 1.00pm at Northmead Creative and Performing Arts High School in the school hall .

There will be four (4) tests which will include: • Reading Comprehension • Written Expression • Mathematical Reasoning • Abstract Reasoning. There will be a short break between tests.

Your child will be required to arrive at Northmead CAPA High School at 8:45am on the day of the exam for a 9.00am commencement and will need to be collected from school at 1.00pm.

Transport to and from Northmead Creative & Performing Arts High School is the responsibility of the parent/carer.

Your child will need to bring recess, drink and stationery as indicated in follow up documents which will be provided prior to exam. Primary School uniform needs to be worn on the day.

Candidates who arrive late for the first test will be admitted only at the discretion of the supervisor, and additional time will not be allowed.

Please note that this program is for selection to the High Potential and Gifted Academic Program, not the Creative and Performing Arts stream through the audition process. However, application can be made separately for the Creative and Performing Arts stream.

Placement in the HP & GA Program will be in consideration of placements available as local students have priority for enrolment.
