Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Northmead Creative & Performing Arts High School. Our curriculum teaching programs include: Circus, Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts across year groups 7 - 12 with our auditioned students forming our Gifted or High Potential CAPA classes. Additionally, our ensemble groups and companies, support and extend opportunities for students, through a range of performances, interests and skill development.
CAPA Audition applications are to be submitted with all documentation, portfolio and video submissions online.
Applications without supporting documentation including school reports or previous NAPLAN results will not be considered.
Please ensure you refer to specific information about Portfolio requirements and workshop and individual auditions in each of the CAPA areas.
Steps To Apply
Gather the following:
- Two most recent school reports
- Two middle pages from the most recent NAPLAN results (submit Year 3 NAPLAN if Year 5 is unavailable)
A $50 application fee applies for each CAPA subject area applied for.
Pay online and keep your receipt number to include in the application form.

You will need to sign in using a Google account (your own or your child’s) to complete the form and upload all required documents.
CAPA Audition Checklist
Before submitting your application, ensure you have:

CAPA Audition Conditions
Due to the large number of applicants who audition each year, the following conditions apply:
- Each student's audition is judged on its own merits on how well they perform. This means that the decisions are based strictly on the standard of each audition.
- The examiner's decision is final and with no appeal permitted except on procedural grounds. Appeals are only possible if there is a concern regarding the audition procedure, not on the result itself.
- Details, feedback or breakdowns of individual performances in their audition will not be disclosed to applicants.
CAPA Audition Process
Round 1: Online Audition Application reviewed by panels DUE by Monday, 23rd March
If your child is successful in the Round 1 Online Auditions, you will be contacted by email at the start of Term 2, 2026 with the details (date and time) for the Round 2 LIVE Audition.
Round 2: Students who pass the Round 1 Online Audition will be invited to participate in a live workshop audition
- The live workshop auditions will take place between Weeks 2 and 3 of Term 2 in 2026. It is important that students and families ensure availability during this date window, as rescheduling will NOT be possible.
- The school will assign specific dates to each student for their discipline workshop. (Circus, Dance, Drama, Music or Visual Arts).
- Parents and carers will be informed of these dates in a timely manner.

Round 2 Live Audition Details
Location: Northmead Creative and Performing Arts High School
Registration and Escort:Applicants will be collected from the front office before and after audition. Students will
Duration of Workshop: The audition workshop will last approximately:
Circus - 1.5 hours
Dance - 1.5 hours
Drama - 1 hour
Music - 1 hour workshop or individual time slots - 15 mins
Visual Arts - 1 hour live drawing workshop followed by individual 10 minute time slots
Dress and Equipment Requirements:

Circus applicants: Form fitting practical attire, barefoot

Dance applicants: Form fitting dance attire - leotard, bike shorts, stockings, barefoot and/or foot thongs

Drama applicants: Comfortable attire is recommended.

Music applicants: Bring your own instruments except if auditioning on piano, drum kit, or percussion.
- Electric guitarists and bass guitarists must bring their own lead cables.
- Percussionists and drum kit players should bring their own mallets and drumsticks.
- Prepare a different 2-minute music piece from what you submitted in Round 1 (Only apply to Solo Auditions).
