On Thursday February 27 2020, students studying Japanese in Year 9 and 10 will have the opportunity to experience a Japanese Calligraphy presentation and workshop, presented at school by specialised staff from the Japanese Consulate in Sydney. The workshop will take one period, therefore students must come prepared for normal lessons for the remainder of the day. The sessions will be held in a classroom, supervised by a teacher and all students must wear full school uniform. All students will have the opportunity to participate, therefore students are encouraged to bring an apron or similar, to avoid ink stains on their school uniform. The performance and workshop introduces students to the basic skills of "Shodo" and how it has an important role in Japanese arts and culture.
This Japanese Consulate Shodo presentation and workshop is a popular activity for Japanese language learners, therefore we are confident all students will thoroughly enjoy it. Participation in this workshop will supplement the stage 5 Japanese language course by building the students' knowledge and appreciation of Japanese culture.
